Sun, community, and a lot of choice.
Florida has English programs, community colleges and universities all over the state. Many students feel at home fast: Portuguese and Spanish are heard everywhere, flights to Brazil are frequent, and the weather helps. Florida also has no state income tax, although that doesn't change your student costs much.
Cities where students study
- Miami and Fort Lauderdale
- International, bilingual and busy. Lots of English schools and colleges, and a strong job market in tourism, trade and services. Also one of the most expensive rental markets in the state.
- Boca Raton, Deerfield Beach and Pompano Beach
- Home to one of the largest Brazilian communities in Florida, with Brazilian markets, churches and businesses.
- Orlando
- Theme parks, hospitality and a growing tech scene. Kissimmee and the Orlando area have a big Brazilian presence. Rent is usually lower than in Miami.
- Tampa
- A fast-growing city on the Gulf Coast with colleges, universities and a friendlier price tag than South Florida.
- Jacksonville, Gainesville and Tallahassee
- Northern Florida cities with major public universities, college-town life and lower costs.
Program types
Program types in our network may include English (ESL), community college, bachelor's and master's programs, and hybrid options.
Cost of living
South Florida (Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton) is one of the most expensive areas in the Southeast, mostly because of rent. Orlando, Tampa and North Florida are usually more affordable. Car insurance in Florida can be high. We compare real costs for your city before you choose.
Climate and daily life
Hot and humid most of the year, with a rainy season in summer. Hurricane season runs from June through November, so it's smart to know your school's emergency plans. Outside downtown Miami, most students need a car.
The right Florida city matters as much as the school.
Many students pick Miami because it's famous, then struggle with rent. We show you options in Orlando, Tampa or North Florida side by side, with costs, format and practical training, so you choose with your eyes open. Already studying in Florida? We handle transfers from ESL to college, including moves between cities.
Are English schools in Miami more expensive?
Tuition varies by school, not only by city. But living costs in Miami are usually higher than in Orlando or Tampa.
Is Orlando good for Brazilian students?
Many Brazilians live in the Orlando area, and there are many programs there. It can be a good balance of community and cost.
Can I study in Florida in a hybrid format?
Some programs combine online classes with required on-campus hours, within F-1 rules.
Do I need a car in Florida?
In most cities, yes. Public transit is limited outside central Miami.
Can I transfer from an ESL program in Miami to a college in another city?
Yes. A SEVIS transfer can move you between schools and cities. We plan the dates with you.
